About the Project

Spirit Guide (2017)

I painted this mural live during the annual Wanderlust Festival in Lake Tahoe, CA. The artwork was designed to pay homage to Ganesh, the elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, also known as The Remover of Obstacles. The intention behind the mural is the recognition of the self-love and dedication it requires to overcome the obstacles that we encounter throughout our active lives.

Small eyes and big ears — symbolizing concentration and listening attentively. One broken tusk — to represent retaining good and removing bad. Lotus in hand — the symbol of enlightenment and rebirth. The gold chrome stencil embellishments surround Ganesh as a shimmer of the hope and light that lies behind every experience.

The Wanderlust Festival is known for it’s collaboration with some of the world’s most prestigious yoga instructors, inspirational speakers, performance artists and musicians. It’s a public platform for self study, deepening human connection, and transformation. I’m privileged to have been invited to be the Resident Artist for 2017, creating three unique art pieces on-site in Lake Tahoe, CA, Stratton, VT, and Snowshoe, WV.
